When we first met Etornam, she had her baby boy strapped on her back and had finished her seamstress apprenticeship. Because she couldn’t find work, she began taking on cleaning jobs to provide for her little family. We knew God had put her in our lives for a purpose, but we never imagined the story He was writing.
As the months went by, we watched her gain confidence in herself. She became a skilled seamstress and only continued to improve every day. Most of all, though, she loved Jesus and her sweet little one.
Through the years, we have watched her thrive in Ghana while loving our US family as her own. We have watched her serve the Lord in her work and in her community. We have watched her train and disciple her child to love the Lord. And we have watched her minister to other single moms in need.
We also watched her begin to pray for the man God had chosen for her to spend her life with. And we joined her in praying for a man that loved Jesus and would cherish her and her son. And we watched God answer that prayer in Samuel.
Today we stand in awe for all God has done in Etornam’s life. She is married to the love of her life, Samuel, and they have three beautiful children. Now their dream of owning their own home is becoming a reality. They recently purchased land and have begun building their house! With the rainy season, work is a little slow, but they know God will continue what He started.
For us, everyday we thank God for bringing Etornam into our lives. We have watched her become a strong, confident, successful woman that loves the Lord. She has been such a sweet gift from Him in more ways than we can count and she continues to be our in country director for Esther’s Hope overseeing product management while loving on the women in our program. And for each of you, we want to say thank you for joining hands with us. Thank you for your partnership, your prayers and for believing in every child and family God brings us. Thank you for changing the world one child, one family and one community at a time.
